The Minister
Petros G. Molyviatis
Born in Chios in 1928. He is married and has one daughter and one son.
As a career diplomat, he served in the Permanent Delegation of Greece to the United Nations and NATO as well as the Greek Embassies in Moscow, Pretoria and Ankara.
From 1974-1980 he was Diplomatic Advisor and Director General of the Political Cabinet of Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis.
From 1980-1985 and 1990-1995 he was Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.
He was elected Member of Parliament for “Nea Dimokratia” Party in 1996 and 2000. From 2004-2006 he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He is chairman of the Konstantinos Karamanlis Foundation.
On 17 May 2012 Petros Molyviatis assumed his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He holds a law degree from Athens University and speaks English and French.
